Our Team

Doug and Gail Nesbit started Doug Nesbit Funeral Services in June 1989. With 9 years in the industry prior to this and with the local community's encouragement and support, Doug decided to start his own business. 

Stan and Bronwyn Leishman brought the funeral business of Doug and Gail in August 2020 and in the 2021 new year, changed the business name to Leishman Funeral Services.  

The current site of Leishman Funeral Services remains the same at 12 James Street, Balclutha.  Continuing working alongside Stan and Bronwyn Leishman are the same small team who can accommodate almost any request and are relaxed and respectful.    All of the support funeral services provided to families in the past - including graphic design, visual recording, engraving and catering remain the same.

Our Catering Team

Offering refreshments after a service is a very important aspect of the funeral service.  A wonderful time for meeting up with family and friends, sharing stories and memories of the person who has died. 

Adjacent to our chapel we have a  light and comfortable reception lounge with a warm atmosphere with a fully equipped modern kitchen to cater for morning or afternoon teas after a funeral service.  Sandwiches and scones are prepared by our catering staff on the day of the funeral service.     We have two staff members in our catering team, Bronwyn Leishman and Christine King.
